Sophie Schilling

Sophie Schilling (she/her/hers) is a dance artist and educator located in Massachusetts. She first studied ballet, contemporary technique, improvisation, and choreography under Ashley and Caddy Carlise at The Center Dance in Amherst, Massachusetts, where she was a lead performer in seasonal productions such as A 21st Century Nutcracker, along with original picture book adaptations including This Is It, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, and Beyond Sidewalks End. She went on to study Dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance as well as a Minor in Education. While at UMass, Sophie learned from distinguished faculty members such as Thomas Vacanti, Lauren Cox, Molly Fletcher Lynch-Clark and Aston McCullough, performed in student and faculty works such as Scheherazade (Vacanti) and What Still Lingers? (Lynch-Clark), and was a member of the Five College Dance restaging of Lucinda Child’s postmodern masterpiece, Dance I. She is currently a member of the performing company with Abilities Dance Boston.
