Chris Hernández

Chris Hernández is a bassist and string educator based in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Since 2019, Hernández has been afforded the opportunity to build String Orchestra programs for the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts’ Public Schools. Outside of Cambridge, he is a Teaching Artist as well as the Instrument Operations Manager at ProjectSTEP, and an Adjunct Instructor of Music at Phillips Academy Andover.

As a performer, he has built a reputation as a workhorse, having recently performed with his own ensembles as well as groups amongst the likes of Abilities Dance, Orchestra Without Borders Boston, and the Cape Symphony.

He holds degrees in Music Education from the University of Hartford’s The Hartt School ‘19 as well as the Longy School of Music of Bard College ‘22 and furthered his studies at the Brevard Music Center, 2023 and l'Académie Internationale de Musique et de Danse du Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, 2024. In 2025 Hernández helped Launch Musical Minds at Phillips Academy Andover.
